    Hello NEMA Racers and Members,

Just an info email on a couple of multihull related topics you might find of interest…

The 2nd event of the Sail GP racing circuit is this weekend in San Francisco.  This is action packed buoy racing of a fleet of foiling AC50 catamarans and it’s fun to watch, especially the starts.  Here is a link to the website including how to watch it live or on TV broadcast later.  It is this Saturday and Sunday starting at 3:30PM EST.  These boats are on the verge of breaking the 50kt barrier while racing.  Very exciting.

The Race to Alaska (R2AK) will start the Stage 2 long portion of the race from Victoria BC to Ketchikan AK at noon on Thursday June 6th (3PM EST).  Once again, multihulls are the dominant expected podium finishers, although an all women team won last year on a Melges32 and they are back again to defend their title.  Team Pear Shaped Racing is a 10m trimaran that is likely the scratch boat, and there are also other Corsairs including 31R and 28R models so it’s fun to watch.  Here is a link to the website that includes a live tracker for all the boats.  You may recall in the 2018 event, we had NEMA member Joachim Roesler on his RowCruiser Kairos successfully finish the race single handed, a tremendous accomplishment.
